Have you ever considered that art is not just something fun to do or pleasing to look at,... but also healing? My guest for Episode 34 of Beacon News West Virginia knows all about art as therapy and how God uses it as a tool for overcoming tragedy and hardships.
Laura Meadows is one of those bright souls you don't soon forget, partly because of her upbeat, positive attitude and partly because she's so down-to-earth and easy to talk with. When I first heard her story, I knew I wanted to share it with a wider audience; light always dispels the darkness and Laura is another proof of that reality.
Visiting her new, colorful, art studio in Beaver, WV, left me feeling not only inspired, but also a partaker of the grace God has given her. She's an overcomer. She's faithful to God. She's a storm of talent and the children learning art from her are gaining so much more than color theory and brush strokes. They are acquiring confidence. They are finding kinships with their peers. They are learning self-control and the ability to accomplish more than they think. They are finding a colorful, creative freedom that takes effort to cultivate in a world dominated by electronic technology.
Visit our Rumble page to watch "Creativity Takes Courage" to meet Laura and learn her story as well as her offerings for children wishing to pursue the wild and wonderful world of art.
