What's better than starting your day with a hot cup o java?
A hot cup o java served in an atmosphere that encourages community, that's what. This is the concept behind Oak Hill's newest coffee bar, Pistos Coffee, located on Central Ave. near Grant's grocery store.
Owned by the First Brethren Church across the street, Pistos Coffee is run by volunteers who are dedicated to the vision of fostering community among locals and travelers alike. Born of their Christian faith to be good stewards of what God has provided, the shop is a place to have a good cup of coffee or tea while slowing down to enjoy relationships. And, at least once a week, to study God's Word together too.
In just the short span of time we spent at Pistos on a Saturday morning, we saw a variety of friendly faces pass through, some came to sit a spell and catch up, others grabbed a treat for the road. All were welcomed with a warm and eager hospitality.
I tried the slow drip, (Fog Lifter was good) and sampled the new apple pecan and strawberry puff pastries too. I was pleasantly surprised that they were not overly sweet. The light glaze, real fruit toppings and just the right amount of blended spices calls for a highly recommended review.
Take a few minutes to watch Episode 29 for a brief tour and meet some of the kind souls behind this gathering place that specializes in fresh coffee, home-made treats & southern hospitality. Experience Pistos Coffee for yourself during their current spring & summer hours, Tuesday-Saturday 7 am - 4 pm.
